MRG | Media Relations Group, LLC | What We Do

Design | FDOT District Six State Road (SR) 934/71st Street Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR) Project

The Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to, among other improvements, improve the riding surface of the existing asphalt pavement and enhance intersections.

The Project:

The project limits for the State Road (SR) 934/71st Street Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR) Project are from Bay Drive East to Collins Avenue along SR 934/71st Street in Miami Beach, Florida. In addition to the aforementioned items, the project will mill and resurface existing pavement and reconstruct pedestrian ramps to meet FDOT and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. It will also serve to replace existing pedestrian signals with countdown and audible-type signals to support the pedestrian-oriented environment of the corridor and restore pavement markings, correcting any deficiencies.

The Public:

Media Relations Group, LLC, served as the main liaison between project team members and the community for this study. Together with FDOT, MRG embarked on a public involvement program that continued throughout the life of the study. We coordinated and staffed a successful Public Kickoff Meeting and coordinated with local organizations to ensure neighborhood participation. MRG team members visited the corridor on two separate occasions to hand-deliver fliers advertising the Public Kickoff Meeting, and discussed the improvements one-on-one with store owners and other stakeholders within the project limits. We have arranged for the development and production of all project collaterals, including sign-in sheets, comment sheets, a meeting location map and fact sheet. We also drafted the Community Awareness Plan necessary to guide the team throughout the project process.
